3 HEROIC INNOVATIVE CANADIAN ENTREPRENEURIAL ICONS

A Personal Note:

There are 3 men in Canada whose creative and productive genius has been an ongoing source of personal inspiration.

They are:

Paul Demarais - Power Corporation

Ted Rogers - Rogers Communication Inc.

Frank Stronach - Magna International

They are listed in the order in which I became very conscious of their unique contributions to the business and social fabric of our country and our citizens.

They are each entreprenuerial visionaries, creative innovators and family builders of the highest business, personal and socially ethical order. Their integrity of purpose is 'Olympian' on all counts.

Paul Demarais began by building upon a bus enterprise started by his father in Sudbury and ultimately built one of Canada's leading financial institutions.

Ted Rogers built a communications enterprise started by his father in Toronto into one of Canada's leading telecommunications institutions.

Frank Stronach came to Canada over 50 years ago from Austria and built a global autoparts assembly enterprise from scratch.

Besides being astute visionaries they are highly self disciplined and demanding leaders.

They are builders of enterprises that include the 'building' of people.

They believe in the intrinsic value of the empowerment of their colleagues.

They have character and integrity - they believe in the notion of ethical choice in all business decisions.

What all three individuals have in common is their belief in the purpose and value of family. They have each been extraordinary builders of families in both their business and personal lives.

They are an ongoing personal source of inspiration.

With gratitude,

Dan Zwicker.

Ted Rogers passed away. I have chosen to write this note as though he was still alive.

He is very much alive - in my mind.
